Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In instances where there is a discrepancy between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Renting a Vehicle in Cheshunt
- To rent a vehicle through Car Hire in Cheshunt, drivers must be at least 21 years old, with specific age restrictions applicable depending on the vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for those under 25. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category and held for the required duration stated in the Rental Agreement, is necessary. Valid identification, proof of current address, and payment information, including a security deposit, must also be provided. Any further requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement must be met.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Cheshunt office. A deposit may be required to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally due at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed through secure payment systems.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required. Any pre-existing damage must be reported immediately. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as when it was collected, while normal wear and tear is acceptable. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same level of fuel as at the start of the rental; otherwise, refueling fees will apply. Late returns may incur additional charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You are liable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other fees incurred during your rental, as well as an administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every vehicle rental. Full details regarding coverage and any applicable excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial exposure. It is prudent to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is purchased. Responsibility for damages caused by negligence or misuse falls solely on you, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the booking type and the notice period. For precise information, please refer to your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be mindful that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges, which can affect your overall rental experience.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rented Vehicle
- Prohibited uses include any illegal activities or purposes. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous operations is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials or sub-letting the vehicle to unauthorized individuals is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, exceeding passenger or weight limits, or operating the vehicle outside designated geographical boundaries without prior approval is also prohibited.
Violation of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Cheshunt will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will be limited to the rental amount paid in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraudulent conduct.
9. Local Regulations
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.
10. Terms Updates
We retain the right to amend these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continuing to use our services indicates your agreement to the revised Terms.
